DIY Washi Tape Christmas Gift Tags

My favourite kind of diy project is simple, quick and easy. It’s also useful when you don’t need too many supplies or you actually have them in your craft stash ready to go.

Being constantly surrounded by shiny gold and silver tapes, these diy washi tape Christmas gift tags were always on the cards. This is a great little diy that’s fun to make and helps you work your way through that endless washi tape mountain that you’ve accumulated.

Of course, the tapes can be swapped out for different colour schemes. Red and gold is great for a traditional look, blue and silver is super pretty, black and gold always looks luxe.

Supplies
How To:
  1. Draw or print out your templates. I pasted these templates onto a plain word doc and printed on white card: mitten, christmas tree, star.
  2. Cut out your templates.
  3. Trace around your template on a piece of card.
  4. Flip the card over and have fun covering with washi tapes.
  5. Flip the card back over (with the washi taped side on the back) and cut out your template shape.
  6. Use a hole punch to create a hole for twine or string.
  7. Voila! Scribble down your winter wishes and attach to gifts.

DIY Christmas Washi Tape Gift Wrap

When you’ve reached the end of the roll of gift wrap or you fancy making your Christmas presents a little more unique, then washi tape gift wrap is just the thing.

Perfect for jazzing up plain printer paper and kraft paper, it’s also a fun way to use up your washi tape stash.

I’ve gone for metallics, but reds and greens, blues and mint colours would also look really cute too.

Supplies:
How To:
  1. Wrap up your gifts
  2. Cover in washi tape. Cute patterns can be made from shapes like triangles and squares or you can simply go for stripes or cover the whole thing entirely. Have fun ;)

DIY Christmas Washi Tape Envelope Liners

Envelope liners are the cutest. There’s something really sweet about the unexpected pop of colour when you open up a card.

They’re also a super easy way to add a handmade element to your Christmas greetings without needing lots of supplies and taking up too much time.

As winter is around the corner, I couldn’t help but have some fun with the Christmas washi series from masté. These envelope liners would work with lots of different colour combos and patterns and they’re a great way to use up your washi tape stash.

Supplies:

How To:

  • Take one of your envelopes and open it up. Trace the envelope shape and trim it so that the width is slightly smaller than your envelopes. Essentially, you’re trying to leave enough room for the liner to not cover the glue portion when you attach it to your envelopes. Thesweetestoccasion has a great tutorial that shows this process in more detail.
  • Trace around your template and cut it out with scissors or a craft knife.
  • Take your favourite washi tape and cover one side completely. Trim the excess tape or if you’re lazy like me, just fold it around the back.
  • Slide the liner inside an envelope and attach with some double-sided tape.

The tapes above that are used for this diy are from masté's winter washi tape series.

Christmas Cards and Gift Tags from Rifle Paper Co.

We're getting ready for Christmas early with Rifle Paper Co's stunning Christmas card and gift tag designs.

Cute snow globes and winter favourites are joined by a new Santa's Sleigh design, which is just the prettiest. I reckon that any of these cards would look just as sweet framed and popped on the wall as they would propped up on the mantlepiece.

As a snail mail fan, those North Pole postcards have already stolen my heart. Postcards are a great way to send winter greetings and are definitely a little different from your usual high street Christmas cards.

If you fancy levelling up your gift wrapping skills this year, Rifle Paper Co's gift tags are the perfect stylish finishing touch. Even the simplest white or kraft paper package would gain a style boost from those blush pink Merry Christmas tags or the sweet winter berries design.

You can stock up on Rifle Paper Co Christmas cards and tags here.

MT Masking Tape's AW15 collection is here and it's washi tape heaven.

MT Masking Tape have just dropped their latest designs for AW15 and as expected, they’re all completely lovely. As the original designer and inventor of washi tape as we know it, Kamoi Kakoshi’s MT Masking Tape line of washi tapes utilises high quality materials, vibrant colour ways and unique designs.

MT seem to have been inspired by geometric designs for their latest mt deco tape series. Triangles, circles and squares are all front and centre as mt goes crazy for colour and simple shapes with their new sankaku, shimasankaku and maru sankaku designs.

In green and red, MT’s line pattern designs have more loops than the Library of Birmingham. Pool blue and orange take cute pebble shapes and pepper them across washi tape for an instantly sweet design that would be brilliant for baby and spring-themed crafting.

Other favourites from the series are the gleaming gold and silver kirakira tapes, that are decorated with brightly coloured starbursts. Bonus…they’re just in time for the Christmas gift wrapping marathon.

Along with plethora of new deco patterns, mt masking tape have also refreshed their mt ex series of washi tape designs. Whoever came up with the idea of fusing spirograph with washi tape is a genius.

You can check out the full mt masking tape collection including these amazing new aw15 designs right here.

Cute washi tape gift wrap ideas from Masté

Masté are responsible for some of the cutest washi tape designs out there. Smaller in size than your usual roll of deco masking tape, masté’s pocket sized washi tapes are fun to play with and come in a rainbow of creative designs.

I was perusing the Masté blog (link in Japanese) when some fantastic ideas for diy gift wrap caught my eye and I simply had to share. Let’s take a look, shall we?

These tiny washi tape bows are nothing short of adorable. They're such a simple and effective way to decorate plain gift wrap and they have the added bonus of using up your washi tape stash.

These pretty origami washi tape gift wrap toppers look just like morning glory flowers. A small gift message in the middle makes them extra sweet.

Washi tape is brilliant for recycling plain paper bags or adding a personalised touch to kraft gift bags. You could even match the washi tape to the gift for a unique and creative look e.g. travel themed tapes for a bon voyage gift.

Surely even the smallest of gifts would be brightened up by a washi tape ribbon? These rosettes are cute, colourful and a lovely handmade touch for gift wrap.
