DIY Washi Tape England Flags

So, our opening World Cup game against Italy wasn't a resounding success. That said though, that one game seemed to be far more interesting and engaging to watch than the entirety of England's performance in Euro 2012 and so it feels like it wasn't a complete disaster (that's English optimism right there). Looking forward to the Uruguay match!

Earlier in the afternoon, I'd decided to fetch a couple of sweet treats to get us through the long evening ahead. I also knew that the masté berry pink washi tape would make adorable little England flags, so as I went in search of mini cupcakes imagine my absolute delight when I stumbled across mini scones. That's right....mini scones. Yes, please and thank you.

Supplies:

  • Scissors & craft knife / scalpel
  • Cocktail Sticks
  • White washi tape or paper and a glue stick
  • Striped washi tape

Mini washi tape flags not only look adorable, they are also surprisingly effective for something so blinking simple. There are so many different little flags that you could make too with any of the tapes in your washi stash. All you need are a couple of cocktail sticks and a yummy plate of sandwiches, cakes or other nibbles. Add some little washi tape flags and you've got an instant cheerful party platter.

These cute little England flags would also make rather sweet cupcake toppers for next year's St George's Day or perhaps the Euros too. As these washi tape flags were super simple, I'll have to get a little more detailed next time and make some little Union Jacks.
